Shipping Policy

We ship orders using the United States Postal Service (USPS), FedEx, and United Parcel Service (UPS). Orders are processed and shipped Monday through Friday as quickly as possible. All packages ship from California. Delivery times are calculated from the date your order leaves our facility, not the order date.


Free Shipping

Free shipping is available on U.S. orders over $99, including U.S. territories. Certain products are excluded; exclusions are noted on individual product pages.


Back Orders

We make every effort to keep products in stock and avoid back orders. If an item in your order is unavailable, we may:

  • Refund the unavailable item, or
  • Ship the remaining items and send the back-ordered item separately at no additional shipping cost.


Shipping Carriers & Tracking

USPS is our primary shipping carrier, though UPS and FedEx services are also available for domestic orders.

You will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information once your shipping label is created.

Please note that carriers occasionally fail to scan packages during transit. While we will do our best to assist with tracking, responsibility for the package transfers to the carrier once it leaves our facility.


Insurance & Delivery Liability

Once your package leaves our facility, liability transfers to the shipping carrier.

USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class International services include limited tracking and insurance. If USPS officially declares a package lost, we can assist with filing a claim. However, claims cannot be filed for packages marked as "delivered" but not received.

For added security and faster delivery, we recommend USPS Priority or Priority Express shipping. If you are concerned about theft or delivery issues, we recommend requesting signature confirmation.

We are not responsible for delayed deliveries, regardless of shipping method. USPS Priority Express is the only USPS service with a delivery-date guarantee. Delivery estimates for all other services are not guaranteed. If a Priority Express package arrives late, we can assist in requesting a refund of postage charges only.


Returned Shipments

Original shipping charges and return shipping charges are non-refundable if a shipment is returned to us for any reason, including orders that originally qualified for free shipping.


International Shipping

Due to ongoing global shipping disruptions, some international destinations may be temporarily unavailable.

If your country does not appear during checkout, please contact us to inquire about availability. Some countries are excluded due to import restrictions or shipping limitations.

International Shipping Options

USPS Ground Advantage (First-Class International) Economy service for packages up to 4 lbs Estimated delivery:

  • 10 business days to 3 weeks
  • Limited tracking
  • No refunds for lost or damaged packages

USPS Priority Mail International

  • Estimated delivery: 6-10 business days

USPS Priority Mail Express International

  • Expedited international service

Please note that tracking may stop once the package leaves the United States.


International Terms & Conditions

  • Your billing address must match the billing address associated with your payment method.
  • We do not ship internationally to P.O. Boxes.
  • Customers are solely responsible for all import duties, taxes, customs fees, and related charges.
  • The Modern Herb Shop does not pay import duties or taxes.

It is the customer's responsibility to understand and comply with the import laws and customs regulations of their country before placing an order.

We are not responsible for packages delayed, held, confiscated, or rejected by customs.

If a package is refused or returned due to customs issues or non-compliance with local regulations:

  • Shipping charges are non-refundable.
  • A refund will be issued for merchandise only.
  • A 20% restocking fee may apply.
  • Additional fees incurred (such as customs, quarantine, warehousing, or return shipping fees) will be charged to the customer.

Lost International Packages

We are not responsible for lost international packages, regardless of shipping method. We will assist with tracking whenever possible, but our ability to intervene is limited once the shipment leaves the United States.
