Ganoderma lucidum, better known under its Japanese name 'Reishi' (China: Ling Zhi, Japan:
Mannentake; Sawaitake)
is probably the best known of all mushrooms, with a recorded
history that spans over 2000 years. Reishi was used in ancient China as the most important part of Fu
Zheng therapy. Until cultivation made this mushroom available to everyone (from 1971 onwards) its use was limited
to the rich and privileged members of Asian society, due to the rarity and the high price of high quality

Reishi Primo is a
dual extracted and highly concentrated red Reishi fruiting body extract. It has been optimised for the compounds that make Reishi worth considering: Ganoderic acids and their derivatives and beta-glucan.

Directions:
One serving is 2 capsules.
Recommended intake:
As a daily dietary supplement: 1 serving daily (adult below the age of 50); 2 servings in case you're older.
To support the immune system during immune-compromising treatments such as chemo or radio therapy: at least 3 servings, spread out over the day.
The product should be taken with water or another liquid (not in smoothies!) on an empty stomach, at least 30 min. before meals. In case you do not want to consume the capsules - they are easy to open (just pull them apart) and you can dissolve the extract powder that's inside in warm / hot water. We recommend to take the extract together with some vitamin C this improves the absorption and therefore the therapeutic potential. Store at room temperature, dark and dry.

Warnings:
Do not use when on immune-suppressing
medication, e.g. after an organ transplant. This extract's
immune-modulating
properties can act against the medication, so do not use this extract if you are
using this type of medicine.
Some research indicates that Reishi should not be used in case of
hormone related breast cancer, later research states the exact opposite.
Please take this into account before taking the product in case of
breast cancer.
Better NOT mix with lactose-containing
products such as milk lactose
will bind to the polyphenols,
rendering them useless.
For people that are highly susceptible to swings in blood sugar levels (usually the same people that have
problems with alcohol and caffeine): mushroom extracts can have an effect on blood sugar
levels. People using insulin (such as diabetics) might have to adjust their medication. There are reports
stating that taking mushroom extracts can cause of feeling of fatigue or dizziness in these cases
because blood sugar levels are too low. Taking the product together with some sugar-containing
beverage (such as freshly squeezed juice also
contains vitamin C (!)) might help.
Since the effect on pregnant and breastfeeding women has never been researched, we recommend
against using mushroom extracts in these situations.

Why choose ORIVeDA?
Scientific research uses in general specialized, highly concentrated
extracts to investigate the potential of mushrooms. ORIVeDA
extracts are comparable in both composition and quality, so the research
results you read about you can also expect from our products.

Hot water extracts (incl. home made Reishi tea), tinctures and powdered products at best contain only low concentrations of bioactives (which is why you never see them specified on the label of such products - it's better to keep it vague from a vendor's perspective). You might see something like "contains triterpenes". The bioavailability is always a major problem - if we can't digest all that good stuff we can't benefit from it, right?
Reishi Primo is one of the very few Reishi products that actually offers all those bioactives in a bioavailable form, guaranteeing not only the presence but also the quantity of those compounds. Odd as it may seem, it is actually rare to find Reishi with clear specifications, let alone verifiable specifications.
Our mantra is and always will be: quality claims should be supported by objective third party test reports to be reliable and trustworthy.
Why do my capsules look 'speckled'?
The capsules are not 'moldy' or 'off', and if you open them you'll see the extract powder inside is just fine. The 'marbled look' is caused by the presence of 'shell-broken' extract powder together with the standard dual-extracted powder. They have different densities.
Shell-broken extract powder has an extremely fine particle size, it's like dust.
After the Reishi capsules are filled they undergo a polishing procedure, to remove powder from the outside of the capsules, they can get sticky otherwise.
During the process capsules are spinning in the machine, and the dust-like powder seperates from the more coarse extract powder (remember, different densities...) and can stick to the inside of the capsules, mainly because of static electricity.
The strong hygroscopic properties of the extract powder are also a variable. Mushroom extracts (in particular the alcohol and dual extracted types) absorb moisture to such an extent that the capsule shells can be affected, making them brittle. The shell-broken powder particles can merge with the brittle capsule shell.
We can prevent this to a certain extent by adding additives / excipients such as malto-dextrin, but most customers dislike that so we stick to pure extract powder.
Mushrooms for animals:
Mushrooms are amazing in
their abilities to support the body's immune system in animals as well
as people. Mushrooms also help with giving animals added nutrition.
The best mushrooms to use for animals are maitake,
shiitake, reishi and cordyceps. A combination can be used or focus on
one.
