Coriolus versicolor (also known under the names Trametes versicolor, Yun Zhi, Kawaratake and Turkey Tail) is the most intensively researched and best documented mushroom in the world, due to its outstanding properties.

Oriveda PSP-50 is the most potent Coriolus PSP extract commercially available. It is also the only fully certified extract worldwide, with guaranteed levels of the main bio-active and bio-available ingredients. In Turkey Tail the main bioactive compounds are beta-glucans (2 different types) and polyphenols (anti-oxidants). Oriveda guarantees the presence of these compounds and their bioavailability.
Only the mycelia (the 'roots' of the mushroom) were used for the extract, having the highest level of bio-actives.
PSP is the abbreviation of PolySaccharo-­Peptide, a protein bound polysaccharide extracted from a specific strain of the mycelia of the Coriolus versicolor mushroom.

Extracted using hot water followed by alcohol precipitation - the main bioactives are water-solubles with a high molecular weight according to research. Alcohol precipitation is a purification process. It removes useless matter and low molecular weight compounds and thus increases the concentration of bioactives in the final product. The final product contains no alcohol.

Directions:
One serving is 3 capsules.

Recommended intake:
A leaflet with detailed instructions and background is included with every order.
As a daily dietary supplement: 1 serving daily (adult below the age of 50); 2 servings in case you're older.

For optimal support of the immune system, a healthy cholesterol level and/or the respiratory system during allergy season: 2 or 3 servings a day.

The product should be taken with water or another liquid (not in smoothies!) on an empty stomach, at least 30 min. before meals. In case you do not want to consume the capsules - they are easy to open (just pull them apart) and you can dissolve the extract powder that's inside in warm / hot water. We recommend to take the extract together with some vitamin C this improves the absorption and therefore the therapeutic potential. Store at room temperature, dark and dry.

Suggested for dogs:

100mg per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into morning/evening portions. 6-7 capsules daily for a 50# dog.

Warnings:
Do not use when on immune-suppressing medication, e.g. after an organ transplant. This extract's immune-modulating properties can act against the medication, so do not use this extract if you are using this type of medicine.

Better NOT mix with lactose-containing products such as milk lactose will bind to the polyphenols, rendering them useless.

For people that are highly susceptible to swings in blood sugar levels (usually the same people that have problems with alcohol and caffeine): mushroom extracts can have an effect on blood sugar levels. People using insulin (such as diabetics) might have to adjust their medication. There are reports stating that taking mushroom extracts can cause of feeling of fatigue or dizziness in these cases because blood sugar levels are too low. Taking the product together with some sugar-containing beverage (such as freshly squeezed juice also contains vitamin C (!)) might help.

Since the effect on pregnant and breastfeeding women has never been researched, we recommend against using mushroom extracts in these situations.
